Department
The Planning and Zoning Department for the Town of Wheatland is a shared office with Platte County Planning and Zoning. The Planning and Zoning Department oversees the development and land use on both private and public lands for the unincorporated areas of the Town, primarily through zoning and subdivision regulations. The goal of the Planning and Zoning Department is to promote land usage in a safe and effective manner; minimizing conflicting land uses in an economically viable fashion.
The Planning Office is responsible for administering land use regulations for the Town of Wheatland and Platte County. Coordinating the development review process for land use district changes, major and minor subdivision plats, annexations, special use permits, variances, lot modifications, plat modifications, site plan review, and master plan updates.
The Planning Office provides support for the Planning and Zoning Commission, the Board of Adjustments, the Town Council, Platte County Planning and Zoning Commission, and the Board of County Commissioners.

Planning & Zoning Meetings
The Planning and Zoning Commission makes reports and recommendations relating to the Comprehensive Plan and physical development of Wheatland to the Town Council and other public agencies, organizations, and citizens. It may recommend to the executive-legislative officials, programs for public improvement.
The Planning and Zoning Commission is comprised of seven members and two alternate members from the community who are appointed to three-year terms by the Town Council. The Town Planning and Zoning Commission meets the first Thursday of every month at 6:00 PM in the Town Council Chambers, provided there is business to conduct.

Board of Adjustment Meetings
The Board of Adjustment is the appeal board for any order, requirement, decision or determination may be the official charged with the enforcement of any ordinance. The Board of Adjustment has the power to hear those appeals as outlined by the Wheatland Development Code and related State Statues.
The Board of Adjustment is comprised of five members from the community who are appointed to three-year terms by the Town Council. The Board of Adjustments meets on the third Tuesday of every month at 7:00 PM in the Town Council Chambers, provided there is business to conduct.
